About This Coffee

The Danche washing station, established in 2019 by Negusse Debela, represents an impressive success story of transformation from a computer company to becoming one of Ethiopia's premier specialty coffee exporters. Located on a hillside, this high-altitude station sources coffee from approximately 400 smallholder farmers across three nearby regions: Kubi, Sisota, and Sike.

This coffee exemplifies Ethiopia's rich coffee heritage, grown in a semi-forested environment that provides ideal natural shade conditions. The Ethiopia Landrace variety represents the incredible biodiversity of Ethiopian coffee, naturally adapted to the local environment over generations. These indigenous varieties have evolved to thrive in their specific geographical conditions, including soil type, climate, and natural resistance to local pests.

Processing Details

The washing station is part of a larger network, with the company operating three washing and processing stations in Gedeo, Kochere, and Chelelektu, plus cooperative stations in Uraga (Guji) and Nensebo (West Arsi). Their commitment to quality is evident in their meticulous processing methods, resulting in a cup that showcases elegant florals, sweet white peach notes, and a refined lemon green tea finish.
